Risks of Roux En Y Gastric Bypass include but are not limited to the following:
- Death
- Staple line leak
- Damage to other organs while conducting the Gastric bypass
- Bleeding
- Blood clots (deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism)
- Gallstones
- Myocardial Infarction (heart attack)
- Incisional hernia formation
- Infections (either wound or intraabdominal)
- Gastric ulcers
- Gastric strictures
- Vitamin and or mineral deficiency
- Intraabdominal adhesions (scarring) that can result in bowel obstruction
