Roslyn Heights, December 7, 2017 – Mary Rodda – chiropractor, New York local, and winner of the New York Bariatric Group’s pro bono vertical sleeve gastrectomy – is waiting with excited anticipation for her surgery which now has a date: December 18th, 2017.
Up to this point she has been meeting with Dr. Shawn Garber and his team at NYBG and following their direction to ensure she is physically ready for her surgery. Later this month, she will be heading to Mercy Medical Center in Rocksville Centre to undergo her life-changing, 1-2 hour procedure.
Ms. Rodda was announced as the winner for the New York Bariatric Group’s surgery during Obesity Week, almost 2 months ago. Obesity is an increasingly growing problem. In the United States alone, over 35% of adults suffer from obesity and many do not have the insurance coverage to heal their affliction. Recognizing this trend, Dr. Garber and his team decided to perform a pro bono surgery. This surgery is a step by NYBG to bring bariatric surgery to those who would not otherwise receive it.
The New York Bariatric Group is excited to be able to bring the possibility of weight loss to people like Mary.
Since founding NYBG, Dr. Shawn Garber and his team have performed over 12,000 surgeries, as well as the most gastric balloon placements in the United States making it the premier practice for weight-loss procedures.
The NYBG team will support Mary throughout her entire weight-loss journey, documenting her success. They hope this will inspire others to seek out bariatric surgery as a long-term solution to obesity.
