Sleeve gastrectomy include but are not limited to the following:

  • Death
  • Staple line leak
  • Damage to other organs while conducting the Sleeve Gastrectomy
  • Bleeding
  • Blood clots (deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism)
  • Gallstones
  • Myocardial Infarction (heart attack)
  • Incisional hernia formation
  • Infections (either wound or intraabdominal)
  • Gastric ulcers
  • Gastric strictures
  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
  • Vitamin and or mineral deficiency
  • Intraabdominal adhesions (scarring) that can result in bowel obstruction
