StomaphyX

StomaphyX is a gastric bypass revision procedure that used to be offered to patients. A benefit was the procedure involved no incisions and minimal recovery because the procedure involved placing an endoscope through the mouth into the stomach pouch. The connection between the stomach pouch and small intestines was sutured resulting in food taking longer to be digested. When this happens, you feel full for longer. Because StomaphyX also made the stomach pouch smaller, patients would eat smaller meals. Dr. Shawn Garber was one of the first five surgeons in the United States to perform StomaphyX. Although the StomaphyX procedure worked initially, the long-term data began to show that the results of the procedure did not last. Because of this we stopped offering StomphyX to our patients.

At New York Bariatric Group, we are committed to offering the most effective obesity treatments to our patients in NYC. We have replaced StomaphyX with the ROSE/Apollo procedure, which you can learn about here. ROSE stands for Revisional Obesity Surgery, Endolumenal. This procedure is similar to StomaphyX, but is the preferred choice of the expert surgeons at New York Bariatric Groups.

If you are interested in combatting weight regain after bariatric surgery, the ROSE procedure, band over bypass, or one of our other revisional options may be the best choice for you. Please contact our office at 800-633-8446 to schedule a consultation. Our surgeons can help you understand why you may have regained weight, what revisional option fits best with your medical history and preferences, and the process for undergoing one of these procedures.
